'Effingham Junction' - Periodical Update
March 2023
Once again, the NMRS webmaster apologises for the lack of updates - there have been developments at the club over the past 15 months, albeit less on the main layout than we perhaps intended.
Since the last update, one of the two clubrooms has had a 'makeover', with a dedicated workspace and equipment storage area now taking the place of a previous layout. This will allow the club to undertake other projects, including the construction of a new exhibition layout, and for members to occasionally work on other projects away from the main layout.
On the main layout, the dockside and warehouse area is being redeveloped by two of our newer members, with scratchbuilt buildings (which are already looking impressive) featuring alongside a revised trackplan. Also, one of the diesel depots is being extended (because some members keep buying locos!) by about 9' x 12", and this will incorporate a Railway Laser Lines depot building with a West Hill Wagon Works depot detailing kit inside.
The club exhibited its main exhibition layout 'Crawton' at the Manchester exhibition in December 2022 (pictured below), and individual members' layouts have appeared at various shows over the past few months, including Pontefract, Barnsley, Leeds and Stafford.
